
Reverend Alicia Vélez Stewart earned a BA from Suffolk University in Government and her Masters of Divinity from Boston University’s School of Theology. She is a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry.
Her passions include: Leading theological discussions and studies on LGBTQIA-inclusion, creating gender-affirming sacred spaces, speaking and leading panel discussions related to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) concerns including the work of peacemaking and justice, active support of the Black Lives Matter Movement, active participation and development of faith-based movements around gender equity and antisexism initiatives, involvement in other ecumenical and interfaith collaboraboratiin and dialogues, adjunct lecturer at Boston University of Theology, convener of the Hispanic Clergy Caucus of the New England Annual Conference, and Co-Chair of the New England Annual Conference Hispanic Latino Ministries Committee.
Her husband, Bryan is a programmer/engineer at Blue Voyant, a cyber security/threat detection firm. He is a double black belt in kempo and oki rye karate.
She has four children. Shawn is the oldest and is a student at Bridgewater State University School of Social Work.
Next come the twins, Diego and Gabriela. Diego plays the trumpet and euphonium. He has been a member of the Robotics team in his last school. Some of his other interests include playing chess, Roblox and Minecraft, and he is a budding foodie. Gabriela has been an active member in local and school theater and plays the clarinet and bass clarinet. She enjoys singing, painting, and drawing as well as sewing. She also has her own sticker website.
Alexander is the percussionist of the family. He also enjoys theater, fishing, swimming, camping and riding his bike. He is a yellow belt in kempo karate.
The furry and feathered family members include: Emma Louise (the pug); Harold Earl (golden retriever); the friendly cats: Chester, Justin and Alfred; and the two parakeets, Archibald and Ronin.
