SYNOPSIS OF SERMON/MESSAGE
On the Sunday before Lent, we stand at a threshold. Drawing on Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians, this sermon explores God’s wisdom as something that runs deeper than surface-level answers, power, or certainty. Paul reminds us that the heart of the Christian story is not domination or fear, but love that refuses to give up. The cross, once a tool of empire and death, becomes a witness to life and resurrection because Jesus remained faithful to a message of love, human worth, and divine connection, even when it cost him everything. As we prepare to enter the season of Lent, we are invited to slow down, to listen, and to practice witness by paying attention to where God’s Spirit is already at work in our lives and in the world.
CALL TO PRAYER: PLEASE PRAY AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN
Glorious God, we are midway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. We seek the horizon for longer days and warmer temperatures. We seek faithful connection with you as we continue to address the needs of people. Bolster us, Lord, in our efforts to stay committed. Help us stay on course through diligent Bible study, prayer, worship and acts of service. We ask for your blessing as people who believe in Love. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Join us for a 1950’s themed Murder/Mystery Dinner by our Beacons Youth Group. Proceeds will go to Madeline’s Mission and Midcoast Humane Society

For thousands of years, the space where we prayerfully gather today was under the care of The Wabanaki, meaning People of the Dawn. Their presence in this region is remembered and woven into the history of our community.
In honor of Native American Ministries Sunday, and every day, we are encouraged to participate in repairing the past harm and moving forward with awareness and respect, celebrating and embracing the contributions of the First Americans.
