“We had hoped…”

In this powerful post-resurrection story, two disciples walk away from everything they thought they understood all while grieving, confused, and unsure what comes next. And yet, without their knowing, Jesus walks beside them. This week’s message reminds us that faith isn’t about always recognizing Christ in the moment, but trusting that we are never walking alone.
CALL TO PRAYER:
Creator God, this beautiful planet is our home. On this Earth we live and conduct all our activities. Psalm 22 says, “The Earth is the Lord’s”, yet we act as if it is ours. As a people we have mistreated this glorious gift from You. Forgive us for the ways we have destroyed and disfigured, abused and overused the resources which we have removed for our own desires. We must repent, Lord, of our selfishness, our greed and our apathy. Rather than fear for our futures, we can seek Your input with faith and place our hope in the possibilities that You show us. May we continue to love as You love, to share and to be transformed. In the name of Beauty and Love and Forgiveness through Christ ,our Lord. Amen.

We will watch episodes of “The Chosen” as we share our meal and discuss how we live as Resurrection People in our world.

For thousands of years, the space where we prayerfully gather today was under the care of The Wabanaki, meaning People of the Dawn. Their presence in this region is remembered and woven into the history of our community.
In honor of Native American Ministries Sunday, and every day, we are encouraged to participate in repairing the past harm and moving forward with awareness and respect, celebrating and embracing the contributions of the First Americans.
